I'm the type of girl who takes a long time to get ready. I need time to eat, shower, wash my hair, shave my legs, get dressed (a few times), do my makeup, style my hair, paint my nails, etc. I'm high maintenance. What can I say? When I woke up, I prepared myself a simple breakfast: a bowl of blueberries and a blueberry muffin. After I ate, I began getting ready. For the makeup, I started with a very bronzed base. I then did a shimmery lid with a smokey crease and outer corner. I finished it with winged liner, lots of mascara and a nude lip. For the outfit, I wore a navy blue maxi dress and camel-colored sandals. harrisonburg farmers marketGoing to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is a tradition in my house. This morning was no different! After we were both ready to go, we drove to Harrisonburg. My mom likes to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables, local honey, herbs, bread, little gifts for friends and more. I love seeing what all the vendors have for sale! When my mom and I left, we drove over to the Smithland Soccer Complex to watch my niece and nephew play soccer. When the downpour of rain began, my mom and I left for lunch. After much deliberation, we decided on the Friendly City Food Co-op salad bar. In my salad, I put romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tofu, bean sprouts, feta cheese, edamame, pumpkin seeds and homemade balsamic dressing. It was incredible. live music @ brothers craft brewingAfter we ate lunch, we drove over to Brothers Craft Brewing. One of my favorite things to do is see my dad play music. Hint: he's the one playing guitar in these photos. Sometimes he plays solo, and sometimes he plays with his bassist and drummer. You can find his event schedule and social media accounts at randyblackentertainment.com. :) dinner & dessertWhen the gig ended, my mom and I came home to make dinner. There's something you all should know about me: I don't follow recipes. Occasionally I'll find a recipe I'm interested in making, but in the end, I use what I think will taste best. This is why these dinner "recipes" are vague (because even I don't know exactly what I put in them)! Honey Hoisin Wings For this wing marinade, I combined honey, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, vegetable oil, red wine vinegar, garlic hot sauce, a pinch of garlic powder and a pinch of Chinese five-spice. After marinating, my mom threw them in the oven to broil. Garlic Butter Shrimp For the shrimp, I started by tossing butter and garlic in a pan. I added a little olive oil, then dumped the shrimp into a pan and added seasoning salt and dried rosemary. This was super simple yet super delicious! Garlic Herb Bread Garlic bread is one of my absolute favorite guilty pleasures. To make it homemade, I simply brushed Italian bread with butter, minced garlic, dried herbs, olive oil, salt and pepper. My mom then baked it in the oven. In addition to the wings, we had celery and bleu cheese. We also had corn as a side. Usually our dinners are much more vegetable-based, but were simply craving this kind of thing. :) Muddy Buddies I was really craving dessert after dinner, but I didn't know what to make. As I was looking in the cabinet, I spotted Chex cereal. I'd never made muddy buddies before, but for some reason, I immediately had the urge to make them. We didn't have all the ingredients, so I improvised. First I melted butter, white chocolate and peanut butter in a bowl. After stirring, I threw in some cocoa powder and vanilla extract. I then poured the mixture over the cereal and stirred. It was a little dry at first (I didn't measure anything), so I melted more white chocolate, poured and stirred again. Then I added powdered sugar. After this, the muddy buddies were complete. I spread the mix out on a pan and let them set. To be honest, they were delicious! After I indulged, I watched a little TV with my mom and began writing this blog post. Afterwards, I ended the day by catching up on beauty videos and cuddling with my cat! I hope you all enjoyed this "day in my life" post! This is something new from me, and I really liked how it came out. :) As always, thanks for reading!
XOXO, -Bailey
